Things come to an abrupt end when his father, a powerful media mogul, dies from a hornet sting and Britt is suddenly the heir. This introduces him to Kato, an inventive and hard-working employee of his father. The two quickly become friends and think about how they can give their lives meaning. They want to fight crime by breaking the law. However, since Britt alias The Green Hornet is not particularly skilled with weapons, Kato builds him a gas pistol to stun criminals.
