The film was produced by Joel Silver and the screenplay was written by the Wachowski brothers, who became famous for the Matrix trilogy. The film is set in futuristic London and the story follows V, the Vendetta masked freedom fighter Guy Fawkes, who is simultaneously pursuing personal revenge and preparing a social and political upheaval in his fight against the authoritarian state. V for Vendetta was a huge surprise success at the box office and caused unrest and discussions about terrorism in some countries.
